Safety Protocols for COVID-19

The health and safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority.

As we reopen our studio for in-person camps and classes, we have  developed a set of safety measures in accordance with the recommendations and requirements stipulated by Jackson County and the State of Missouri. As these protocols change, we will update our policies to reflect the new recommendations. We appreciate your cooperation with these safety measures as we work to keep all our students, staff and families healthy.

RPAC Safety Protocols

When students arrive for class, a staff member will conduct a quick temperature check using a no-contact thermometer gun. Students with a fever of 100+ will be asked to skip class that day, so parents should wait to be sure their child is admitted prior to leaving after drop-off.

As students and staff enter the studio, they’ll be directed to wash their hands prior to joining class. We will provide appropriate soaps and hand sanitizers for student and staff use, although students are welcome to bring their own products if they have any special skin needs.

In accordance with state guidelines, we now require students to wear a face covering whenever possible during class. This is a requirement currently in place by Jackson County. Please be aware that face coverings are also recommended by the CDC as a way to help prevent asymptomatic carriers from unknowingly spreading the virus. We appreciate your full cooperation.

For the last five minutes of each class, class members will help wipe and sanitize all common area surfaces so they’re ready for the next group of students without a delay in schedule. RPAC will provide all the necessary and appropriate cleaning sprays in accordance with CDC recommendations.

During classes or while waiting for classes to begin, students will not share any materials or equipment. This includes script or music binders, ballet barres, mats, or other items often used in classes. All materials will be sanitized after each use.

To make it easier for teachers and students to safely distance during instruction, we are limiting the size of all classes. Should circumstances change or special exceptions need to be made, we will consider altering this policy provided we remain in compliance with state guidelines. Enrollment will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis… so sign up early to save your spot! If a class is full, we will begin a wait list so we can accommodate you should a space open up.

Physical Distancing

The nature of theatre and dance classes is such that physical distancing is tricky at times, but please be assured that whenever possible, students will be spaced the recommended six feet apart. Teachers will help with the process of spacing children out, as we expect some of our younger students will need assistance.

RPAC has always had a strict no-sickness policy, so this is nothing new…but it’s definitely more important now than ever! We ask any student who has been feeling under the weather, has had a fever within the past 24 hours, has had contact with or exposure to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or has tested positive themselves to PLEASE stay home. Please contact the office if you’re not sure what to do. The same policy goes for our staff members. We will respect your privacy to the fullest extent, and we thank you for your cooperation.

Questions

Please contact the office if  you have any questions.

Thank you for your partnership in making this the best it can be for all our students, teachers, and families. We really appreciate you.
